- Program: Security Bollards for Western Union Building
- Location: New York City
- Date:2007-2009
- Architect: George Boyle Architects
After 9/11 many telecommunication buildings in New York were retrofitted with bollards to prevent car bomb detonations. The Western Union building, considered one of New York City's first skyscrapers, is a historical landmark and whose changes have to be in the Art Deco style.
The bronze casing for the bollard originated from the diamond pattern in the lobby and gave them an armored appearance. They were approved by the Landmarks Preservation Committee in September 2007 and the first set was installed outside in October 2009.
